Manchester United have turned their attention to Spain midfielder Thiago after being warned off his Barcelona team-mate Cesc Fabregas.
Fabregas had been a top target for United, who are desperate to sign a forward-thinking central midfielder this summer.
But after the former Arsenal captain ruled out leaving the Nou Camp, David Moyes has turned his attention to colleague and compatriot Thiago.
The 22-year-old is one of the best prospects to graduate from Barca’s impressive academy setup in recent years, but his road to regular first-team football has been blocked.
And with Xavi, Andres Iniesta, Sergio Busquets and Fabregas showing no signs of moving on any time soon, United believe they can lure him to Old Trafford.
According to reports in Spain, Barca would be willing to part with the player for around £25million and the ball is now in Moyes’ court as to whether a bid is made.
